Three people, including two siblings, were killed and five others injured in a road accident on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Andiura in Madhabpur upazila of the district this afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Mosharraf Mia, 3, and Shahinur Akter Rupa, 7, children of Kudduch Mia of Rasulpur village, and Madhu Das, 35, son of Ajit Das of Satbarg village under Bijoynagar upazila of Brahmanbaria district.

The accident occurred in the area when a Sylhet-bound passenger bus hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, leaving two passengers of the auto-rickshaw dead on

the spot and five others injured, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shaistaganj Highway Police Station Mainul Islam.

Later, the injured were admitted to Madhabpur Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared Rupa dead.

Police arrested bus driver Hafiz Uddin and his assistant Liton Mia, the OC said.
