The bodies of four people with gunshot wounds were found next to the Sangu River in Bandarban, whom the police say died between a shootout between armed groups. Locals at Rowangchhari upazila’s Phalangkyang spotted the bodies on Sunday morning and reported to the authorities, said Superintendent of Police (SP) Jerin Akhter.

“We suspect they died in a shootout between two groups. Details will be available later,” said the Bandarban police chief before adding that the victims’ identities are yet to be confirmed. On Saturday, a former activist of the Parbatya Chattogram Jana Sanghati Samiti (PCJSS) was shot dead in Rowangchhari upazila.

A group of armed men shot Anumang Marma, 45, and fled the scene along with the body.
