A former captain of Bagerhat district cricket team was killed in a road accident on Mazar-Muniganj road in Kuliadair area of Bagerhat Sadar upazila on Satruday.
The deceased was identified as Rezwanul Islam Ridu, 36,son of Sheikh
Abdur Razzak of Badekarapara village in Sadar upazila.
Bagerhat Sadar Model Police Station officer-in-Charge (OC) KM Azizul
Islam said, when Rezwanul was returning home from Jatrapur in a motorcycle a
goods-laden truck coming from the opposite direction hit it, leaving the
Rezwanul injured .
He was rushed to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him
dead, he said
The truck was seized but the driver and the helper managed to flee.
Preparations are underway to file a case, the OC said.
