A 17-year-old schoolboy named Kaiyum Islam has died after being struck by a buffalo’s horn at Munsirhat in Sreepur-Kharandwip of Boalkhali upazila, Chattogram.

The incident took place around 4 pm on Friday (July 16)

The deceased was identified as Qayum Islam, a 10th class student of Kharandwip Multipurpose High School. Qayum is the son of Morshedul Alam of Sreepur village.

Local chairman Mohammad Mokaram confirmed the incident, saying a buffalo inadvertently tore a rope and ran away while unloading buffaloes from a truck at the  Munsirhat. At that time, Qayum was severely injured when he was hit with a horn. When the locals took him to the Upazila Hospital, the doctor on duty declared him dead.
