The son can't breathe.
As soon as the news reached the ears of the mother
who was lying in the ICU in a dying state, she started fidgeting. But the
doctors are not able to give ICU support to the son as the bed is not empty
even though it is needed. Hearing about the boy's restlessness, She opened the
life support equipment in her hand and motioned to the doctors to bring the son
to the ICU. May the beloved sonsurvive? Despite hundreds of attempts, the
doctors could not convince the mother. Then the mother was forced to drop
herself and put the son in the ICU bed.
The cruel irony of fate is that within an hour of
getting out of the ICU, the world is over as well as she died. The son is
alive. But he is fighting to the death. Such a tragic incident took place in
the ICU unit of Chittagong General Hospital.
It is learned that a week ago, a 65-year-old woman named KanonProva Pal, a resident of Didar Market C&B Colony area of the city, was admitted to the General Hospital with corona. A few days later, her son Shimul Pal (36) was admitted to the same hospital with corona. Doctors took the mother to the ICU as her condition was critical. The boy was admitted to the general ward. Gradually, the oxygen level in the body of the son began to decrease. He also needs an ICU bed. However, beds were not available as 14 ICU patients were admitted in the hospital.
The situation was similar in private hospitals in Chittagong. Nowhere was the ICU bed empty. The mother later left the ICU to save her son.
Dr AbdurRab -Senior Consultant of the General Hospital said about the tragic incident.He said, ‘The whole incident happened before our eyes. But we are helpless. There is no empty ICU bed in the hospital due to increased patient pressure.
At present, the physical condition of the boy is not so good, said Dr.Rajdwip Biswas- ICU ward in-charge. He also said, "With the consent of everyone in the family, the doctors removed the mother and shifted the son Shimul Pal to the ICU bed and took the mother to the isolation bed." But the mother could not be saved. There was nothing to do despite knowing everything. '
