Chattogram Bureau: Dhaka, Sept-11,

Sajjad Hossain came to Dhaka from Teknaf with 70 betel nuts. After peeling, 20 betel nuts were found, but the rest contained yaba pills wrapped in scotch tape. Detectives say drug traffickers are changing one strategy after another to fool their eyes.

Betel nut is one of the ingredients of eating betel leaf. After peeling, the hard part inside is eaten with the betel leaf. Drug traffickers have chosen betel nut to smuggle yaba this time. If any one looks at it with the naked eye, it looks like betel nut, but inside it is the destructive drug yaba.

After peel betel nut, the inner part was removed. Then the yaba was inserted into the piece of polythene and wrapped with scotch tape. The betel nut has been made again with a pair of shells.

Sajjad Hossain, a yaba trader, was bringing 150 yaba from Teknaf in Cox's Bazar to Dhaka by inserting 150 yaba in each of the 50 betel nuts. Detective police have arrested him from Vijayanagar in the capital. He used to bring yaba from Cox's Bazar to the capital and sell it wholesale and retail.

Manas Kumar Poddar, deputy commissioner of detective police, said they were very clever.  These are being brought from the border.

He added, drug traffickers are changing one strategy after another to fool their eyes.

Manas Kumar Poddar further said that they are using various methods to avoid our eyes.

Police are conducting an operation to nab other members of the Yaba smuggling syndicate inside Betel Nut.
