Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said her government seeks to restore the spirit of the Liberation War and build a non-communal society free from poverty and hunger.
After Bangabandhu's assassination in 1975, Bangladesh had gone far away from the spirit of the Liberation War, she said at a meeting of the National Implementation Committee for Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's 100th Birth Anniversary Celebration at Shapla Hall of the Prime Minister's Office today
"It was an attack on the entire Bengali nation rather than on us (our family) only," she said. Bangabandhu had dedicated his entire life to liberating the people and ensuring them a beautiful and improved life, she added.
Hasina, also chairman of the implementation committee, said her government has transformed Bangladesh into a developing country in 2021 when the nation celebrated the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation and Golden Jubilee of the country's independence.
The prime minister at the time stressed the need for digitising all documents like various publications, books, films, short films, documentaries on the Liberation War and the architect of independent Bangladesh. Referring to the establishment of Muktijoddha Complex in each upazila having a mini-museum, she said these are mainly built as none can destroy the history of the Liberation War again.
About building a military museum, Toshakhana Museum and an underground museum at Suhrawardi Udyan, she said the government is doing everything possible to preserve the history of the Liberation War. She said her government has a plan to modernise the national library and planetarium in each division and a cell in the International Mother Language Institute to preserve the history of the Liberation War.
