All the crew of coal-laden literage vessel 'Sajal Tonmoy-2' which sank at Bhasanchar coast of the Bay of Bengal have been rescued safely by  Bangladesh Navy and Coast Guard.

It was confirmed by Coast Guard's east zone's zonal commander Captain Kazi Shah Alam on Saturday afternoon.

He said the coal-laden literage vessel 'Sajal Tonmoy-2' sank in the Bay of Bengal near Bhasanchar in Noakhali district. There were 11 crew members on board the vessel. Immediately after capsize of the literage vessel, Bangladesh Navy and Coast Guard jointly launched rescue operation. Later in the afternoon, they were rescued alive. All of them are physically well. They have been given primary treatment.

The Coast Guard official said the literage vessel was heading towards Dhaka after loading coal in Chittagong. It is primarily thought that the vessel capsized at about 9:00am, some 12 nautical miles south of Bhasanchar, due to rough condition of the sea. After receiving information about the sinking of the vessel on 999, the Bangladesh Navy and Coast Guard launched the rescue operation.
