Detective Lalbagh had received information that some unscrupulous traders are selling counterfeit medicines and creams of banned domestic and foreign brands in various shops of the wholesale medicine market in Mitford of the capital. On the basis of such information, with the help of the Department of Drugs, operations were conducted at Medicine World and Aloknath Drug House on the ground floor of Sureshwari Medicine Plaza in Mitford and Rafsan Pharmacy on the ground floor of Haji Rani Medicine Market.

He said that since the Mitford market in the capital is a wholesale market for medicines, the counterfeit drug production and marketing cycle has been using the Mitford drug market as camouflage to spread counterfeit medicine across the country. The arrested suspects have been playing a key role in spreading counterfeit drugs across the country as wholesalers in Mitford Market.

He added that the detainees had been collecting medicines and creams of these domestic and foreign brands from their associates and marketing them in the Mitford area in the hope of making more profit.

A case was filed with Kotwali Police Station under Special Power Action against the arrested people.
