Members of the
Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 50 people on
charges of selling and consuming drugs in the city.
According to a DMP
statement issued today, police arrested drug peddlers, abusers and seized
banned as well as illegal drugs from the city's various areas.
Police also seized 158
grams and 55 puria (small packet) of heroin, 4.310 kilograms of cannabis
(ganja), 12 bottles of phensidyle and 1,679 pieces of yaba from them, according
to the statement.
Police filed 43 cases
against the arrestees with respective police stations under the Narcotics Control
Act.
