Chattogram Metropolitan BNP convener Dr. Shahadat Hossain said, the roads in Chittagong has now turned into a place of death.

He said, a man named Saleh Ahmed went missing after falling into an open drain in Muradpur a month ago but his whereabouts have not been

ascertained yet. Meanwhile, Sehrin Mahmud Sadia, a meritorious student of International Islamic University, died after falling into an open drain in

Badamtali area of Agrabad last night. His deceased was recovered 5 hours after she fell into the drain. Who is responsible for this? People want to

know? It is in power by taking away the people's right to vote but it is not on the side of the people, it is not in development. Due to the lack of real

public representatives, the city dwellers are being deprived of fundamental

services without guardians.

Dr Shahadat added, in the name of development, the government is running a grand festival of corruption. Mega corruption is taking place in the

name of megaprojects.

He was speaking as the chief guest at a human chain organized under the banner of general students on the death of college student Sehrin Mahmud

Sadia at Kazir Deuri Nur Ahmed Road in the city on Tuesday (September

26).

Dr. Shahadat said, After Saleh Ahmed disappearance who falling into an open drain at Muradpur the City Corporation handed over the responsibility to the CDA. This time too, the CDA is being blamed for the death of Sadia by the City Corporation. The CDA is playing a silent role in these matters.

They want to escape from the people by blaming each other because of absence of democracy as well as the voting rights of the people, he said.

Neither the CDA nor the City Corporation can avoid liability for these deaths. At the same time, the people want to get rid of the dilapidated condition of the road from Patenga to Dewanhat. The roads should be repaired immediately and made suitable for the movement of the people, otherwise, the BNP will take to the streets with the people.
