2 killed in Netrakona road accident

Two men were killed after a pick-van hit a parked truck on Mymensingh-Netrakona road in Sadar upazila of Netrakona this morning. The victims were identified as Tariqul Islam (35) of Kalmakanda upazila in Netrakona and Md Nuruzzaman (30) of Darampasha upazila in Sunamganj, our Mymensingh correspondent reports quoting Khandaker Shaker Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Netrakona Model Police Station.
The OC said the Netrakona-bound pick-van from Dhaka knocked the parked truck from behind in Sakua Bazar area around 8am after its driver lost control over the steering. The accident left Tariqul and Nuruzzaman, who were on the pick up van, dead on the spot, said the police official.
Police seized the vehicles but the drivers managed to flee, added the OC. In another incident last night, a pedestrian was killed when a Kishoreganj-bound motorbike hit him in Ramgopalpur area on Mymensingh-Kishoreganj raod in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh.
Both pedestrian Shams Uddin, 60, and the bike driver, not identified yet, were admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) where doctors declared Shams Uddin dead, said Md Moniruzzaman Majuumder, OC of Gouripur Police Station. The bodies were sent to hospital morgues for autopsy, added the OC.
