Four people were killed and another was injured in a head-on collision between a covered van and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Cumilla-Sylhet highway at Rampura area in Bijoynagar Upazila of Brahmanbaria on Wednesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Farid Miah, 45, Hosne Ara, 48, Morsheda, 50 and Dudu Miah, 60. In this connection, Mohammad Shahjalal Alam, Officer-in-charge of Khatihata Highway Police Station, said a Sylhet-bound covered van collided head-on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, leaving two people dead on the spot and injured three others around 6:45am.
On information, members of police and fire service rushed to the spot and recovered the injured and sent them to upazila health complex. Later, Hosne Ara died on the way to Brahmanbaria 250-bed Sadar Hospital and Farid Miah also died on the way to Dhaka, the OC added.
