Each Police members to get ‘Rank based’ training within next year : IGP

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Benazir Ahmed on Sunday said  each members of the police force will be given ‘Rank based’ training within next year for further enhance the skills of police personnel in various field.

The IGP made the remark while inaugurating a 'rank based' training program for all members of the police at the Hall of Integrity at the Police Headquarters Sunday afternoon.

The Prime Minister has directed to conduct training for each member of the police once a year. As per the directions of Hon'ble Prime Minister, training has been organized at least once a year for every police member from constable to additional IG of Bangladesh Police. This will further enhance the skills of police personnel in various fields, the IGP said.

The top official of Bangladesh Police said that the training has been arranged outside the prescribed courses of all the training institutes of Bangladesh Police. The training started today (Sunday) in all the training institutes simultaneously, he added.

“This year we have arranged for the training of 60,000 police personnel. Next year, training will be organized for each of the 2 lakh 12 thousand police members,” he said.

Dr Benazir Ahmed said there would be separate training courses, modules and trainers for police personnel of each rank. All police personnel from constables to additional IGs will participate in the training, he said.

He said this 'rank based' training would be a milestone in building a police force suitable for modern and developed countries by 2041.

Additional IG (HRM) Md. Mazharul Islam gave a welcome speech on the occasion. Additional IGs, heads of various police units in Dhaka and senior police officers were present on the occasion. The heads of all the police units were connected in the virtual ceremony.

It is to be noted that the training course has been prepared keeping in view the fact that every police member with additional IG rank from constable receives one week training in a year.

Training of ASP and above officers will be held at Bangladesh Police Academy (BPA), Sarada, Rajshahi, Sub-Inspector to Inspector level will be conducted in all PTC and DMP training academies including BPA, TDS, TTS, STS, and PSTS.

Constable, Naik and ASI level training will be conducted at 55 venues under the supervision of In-Service Training Center.

Training of all ranks of 105 police units of the country including BPA, PTC and all in-service training centers will start simultaneously, which will continue in phases throughout the year.
