New EC won’t be able to hold fair polls with AL in office: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said as long as Awami League will remain in office, the new election commission cannot hold any free and fair election.
"It has been proved that the Awami League got its own people appointed in the new election commission. We think that this election commission cannot hold any polls independently," he told The Daily Star in an instant reaction.
Fakhrul's reaction came after the formation of the new Election Commission with the appointment of the new chief election commissioner and four other election commissioners by President Abdul Hamid today.
