CID 15 cases investigating against Pori, Helena, Raj and Mishi

Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which has been investigating 15 cases against arrested film Actress Pori Moni, Helena Jahangir, Nazrul Islam Raj and Mishi Hasan, is expecting to start submiting  investigation reports one after another  before the court within next one and a half months.

Additional IGP Barrister Mahbubur Rahman, chief of the CID, a specialized unit of Bangladesh Police, came up with the remark while brefing reporters at its Malibagh headqurters in the city on Tuesday.

CID has been given for investigation of 15 cases. The motive, speed-nature of each case is different. Primary work of those cases are such as interrogation of witnesses and accused, collection of evidence and gathering of evidence. Some of the narcotics related cases required forensic and chemical testing, he said.

We have already given some seized alamat (Evidences) of some cases for forensic and chemical testrings. Besides, interrogation process of the accused and the witnesses is at  last stage. After getting the forensic report, we will be able to start submitting the investigation reports of those 15 cases to the court one after another. We hope to start submitting police reports in the next one to one and a half months, the CID chief said.

When asked what kind of information did the CID get about recovery of drugs and keeping drugs in the houses of the accused Pori Moni, Model Piyasa and others, Additional IGP Mahbubur Rahman said that evidence (drugs) of narcotics cases were recovered  from thier possessions. Chemical and forensic tests are being done to find out if those are narcotics at all.

When asked about the source of the seized drugs, the CID chief said arrested accused have given different information. Some say it was brought from abroad, some say it was bought from the airport, some say it was collected in various ways. But no matter from where they are collected those drugs from, it is illegal to collect or stockpile these drugs in an unauthorized manner, he said.

Replying to a question on were there any similarities or differences between the information recorded under section 161 and  under section 164 of CrPc, he said, " We have been trying to find out a match with the information given under  section 161 and under Section 164."  We did a separate part that did not match. If necessary, we will re-investigate. However, there was a lot of similarity of information, he added.

Film actress Pori Moni and Nazrul Islam Raj were arrested by members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) following separate raids from Banani in Dhaka on August 4 evening. Earlier on August 3 night, Rab arrested Helena Jahangir during a raid at her Gulshan residence in the capital.

The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) police arrested Models--Faria Mahabub Piasha and Mou Akter from the city on August 2 night on charges of blackmailing people with objectionable photos.
