Four members of a family were burnt in a gas cylinder explosion at Badda in the capital early Wednesday.  They are Sahid Hasan, his wife, Rekha Akter, their children Safa and Safian.

They were admitted to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (SHNIBPS). According to the fire service source, the gas cylinder exploded in the kitchen of a room on the third floor of a residential building.

On information, two units of Baridhara Fire Station rushed to the spot to douse the fire.   Sahid’s nephew Rajib said, his uncle lives at Beraid area in Badda Natun Bazar. The incident took place around 2:30am.

Dr SM Aiyub Hosen, Resident Physician of the SHNIBPS, said Sahid suffered 95% burn injuries, Rekha 30%, Safa 11% and Safian 25%. They are receiving treatment at the emergency department.

Confirming the matter to Jago News, Md Bachchu Miah, In-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp, said the concerned police station was informed about the matter.
