During Durga Puja Instructions all security: IGP

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Benazir Ahmed has directed all police officers to ensure tight security during the Durga Puja, the largest festival of Bangalee Hindu Community.

 "Police officers will ensure tight security and remain vigilant so that no person or group can spread any kind of rumours over Durga Puja in social media," he said while addressing a meeting on law and order and security during Durga Puja at the Hall of Pride in the Police Headquarters here on Wednesday evening.

All Metropolitan Commissioners of Police, Range DIGs and District Police Superintendents joined the meeting virtually.

The head of the police said security should be ensured through communication and coordination with local puja celebration committees.

He called upon leaders of the puja celebration committees to show due respect to the religious sentiments of other faiths during the puja.

Dr Benazir said that under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, economic prosperity of all is being achieved equally in the country.

"Communal harmony has increased among the people of different religions. As a result, the number of puja mandaps is increasing every year," he added.

During the meeting, leaders of puja celebration parisad expressed their satisfaction over the security arrangements taken by the police.

 The puja celebration committee leaders also thanked Dr Benazir Ahmed for his steps and security measures to ensure smooth celebration of Durga Puja.

Police headquarters and other units of police forces will work and monitor the law and order situation during the Puja celebration.

The meeting was attended by Additional IGPs, heads of various units of police, representatives of various intelligence agencies, leaders of Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parisad and Mahanagar Sarbajanin Puja Committee, representatives of Ramakrishna Mission, NSI, DGFI and other agencies.

The Durga Puja will begin on October 11 with Maha Sasthi in 31,137 puja mandaps across the country this year. The puja will end on October 15 with the immersion of idols.
